Gunmetal Vintage Style Jewelry: Mystical Crystal Ball Necklace and Earrings

This week I experimented with using gunmetal chain and findings.  I must say I am quite pleased with the end result – gunmetal lends a naturally nostalgic and vintage style charm to jewelry items.

I call these coordinating pieces Mystical Crystal Ball Necklace and Earrings.  The 14mm fire-polished crystal orbs are truly stunning even on their own and resemble old fashioned crystal balls with mystical powers for reading the future.

I added ornate antiqued pewter bead caps to the crystals and topped them each with a Czech glass jet black bead. I then formed a gunmetal wire wrapped loop.  The contrast of the silver pewter bead cap against the black gunmetal is really striking.

For the necklace I used two gunmetal jump rings for the bail and hung it on a simple gunmetal chain. Finished with a gunmetal lobster claw clasp. Measures 20 inches.

For the earrings I used short lengths of gunmetal chain to connect the crystal drops to gunmetal kidney shaped earring wires.  Drop is 2 3/4 inches.
